The Entry Takerís Book is one of the few pieces of Hamilton County records that survived the destruction of the Civil War. This with the various Deed Books are all the records that did survive. The rest of the vital records were destroyed during the 1863-1864 time period when battles raged all over the area of Hamilton County. This full text volume gives the land transactions during this time period. It does not record everything as do the deeds, but the records are there.

Page 14 - No. 6 Jesse Chitty, 50 acres General Entry - State Of Tennessee/Hamilton County - Surveyors Fourth District in pursuance of an act of the general assembly of the State of Tennessee passed at Murfreesborough on the twenty Second Day of November 1823 entitled an act to Establish offices for receiving Entrys for the vacant lands in the Several Counties in this State lying north and East of the Congressional Reservation line and north of Tennessee River - Jesse Chitty Enters fiffty [sic] acres of land lying on Waldens Ridge on the waters of Soddy Creek... etc...
